Mrs Wendy Ure, of Gisborne, MNZM for services to early childhood education
Wendy Ure is the Tumuaki (Manager) of Gisborne Community Early Education Centre/Te Whare Tiaki Tamariki Inc.
She set up the Supervisor’s Support Group in Gisborne. She is a member of Te Tari Puna Ora o Aotearoa/Te Rito Maioha and was on the Initial Teacher Education Selection Panel for Tairāwhiti. She helped set up the Quality Register. She has been part of the Early Childhood Worker’s Union, the Combined Early Childhood Union of Aotearoa and NZEI Te Riu Roa. Mrs Ure was a member of the Early Childhood Advisory Group to the New Zealand Teachers Council and of the consultation group that set up the 20 Hours Free ECE initiative.
