Dr Michael Fletcher, of Wellington, MNZM, for services to social and public policy
Dr Michael Fletcher is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Governance and Policy Studies at Victoria University of Wellington. He is the New Zealand Correspondent for the Max Planck Institute for Social Law and Social Policy in Munich. He has been Group Manager, Policy and Research in the New Zealand Families Commission, Chief Labour Market Adviser in the Department of Labour, and a senior lecturer and senior research officer at Auckland University of Technology. Dr Fletcher was the independent Special Advisor to the Welfare Expert Advisory Group, contributing to the Whakamana Tāngata report on the future of New Zealand’s welfare system.
