Dame Cindy and Mr William Trubridge, of Havelock North, MNZM for services to freediving
William Trubridge was the first freediver to dive at Dean's Blue Hole in the Bahamas. There he broke his first world record in the discipline of CNF (Constant Weight No Fins), diving to 81 metres. He was the first human to descend to 100 metres with no assistance and later furthered this record to 102 metres, the current world record. He set the world record in Free Immersion with 124 metres. He founded Vertical Blue, a prestigious freediving competition and school, for which he is Course Director. Mr Trubridge instigated Project Hector, raising awareness of the critically endangered Hector's and Maui dolphins, and is an Ocean Recovery Alliance ambassador.
