Dame Cindy and Ms Gina Solomon, of Kaikoura, MNZM for services to conservation and governance
Gina Solomon is Chair and Ngāi Tahu representative on the Nelson Marlborough Conservation Board. She is the administrator, project manager and a foundation member of Te Korowai o Te Tai o Marokura, which led the establishment of the Kaikoura marine protection legislation and the Kaikoura Marine Guardians. She has been a ministerial appointee to several conservation boards and committees. She has worked to re-establish native forest in South Bay, Kaikoura with the St Paul’s restoration group. She is on the Water Zone Committee for the Canterbury Water Management Strategy. Ms Solomon was involved with Takahanga Marae and the Kaikoura Plains Recovery Project governance group following the 2016 earthquake.
