Bishop Ross Bay, QSM, of Auckland, for services to Fire and Emergency New Zealand and the community
Bishop Ross Bay is Deputy Chief Fire Officer of the Auckland Operational Support Unit, New Zealand’s largest volunteer brigade.
He introduced a programme allowing volunteer candidates to ‘try out the role’ before joining and shortened pathways for volunteers to learn certain roles.
He was New Zealand’s first Operational Support member to pass the Institution of Fire Engineers’ international examination. He is a qualified Fire and Emergency New Zealand trainer.
As Anglican Bishop of Auckland, he oversaw the transformation of the church hall at St Marks, Remuera into a community centre.
Bishop Ross officiates at services and dedications as Brigade Chaplain.
