Professor Emeritus Alison Rich, of Dunedin, ONZM for services to oral pathology
Professor Emeritus Alison Rich is Leader of the Oral Molecular and Immunological Group at the Sir John Walsh Research Institute and Head of the Oral Pathology Diagnostic Services in Otago University’s Faculty of Dentistry. She is Chief Examiner for the Faculty of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia, and Head of Pathology at the University of Otago Dunedin School of Medicine. She is the first female President-Elect of the International Association of Oral Pathologists. She has given her expertise to numerous organisations and projects, including a teaching programme for rural health professionals with a high proportion of Māori patients. Professor Rich has produced more than 100 research publications and has been placed within the top one percent of New Zealand researchers by the Performance-Based Research Fund.
