Central North Island Regional Visit -Day Two

Day Two began with a blessing by local iwi on Mount Ruapehu. The next stop was the Tongariro National Trout Centre for a look at the bio-diversity education programme and a chance to meet the volunteers. Beef was the next topic of conversation at Glen Emmreth Farm, where the Governor-General was briefed on the work of the lake taupo Protection Trust and visited a Landcare Research lab onsite. There was also an opportubity to try the delicious Taupo Beef. Then it was a transition to dairy at Miraka Milk, a local milk powder and UHT processing facility that is a major exporter to China.
