Farewell Visit to Northland

The Governor-General, Rt Hon Sir Anand Satyanand, and Lady Susan Satyanand made a farewell visit to the Northland region on 27 and 28 May 2011.  On 27 May Sir Anand and Lady Susan Satyanand visited Northland College, Kaikohe Intermediate and Kaikohe East and West Primary Schools. Sir Anand also planted a Pohutukawa tree on the Waitangi Treaty Grounds - a Governor-General tradition. On 28 May Sir Anand and Lady Susan Satyanand visited the Northland Events Centre/Toll Stadium which Sir Anand officially opened. The facility will host two Rugby World Cup 2011 matches.
