New Zealand Red Cross Florence Nightingale Medal Presentation
The Governor-General, Hon Sir Anand Satyanand and Lady Susan Satyanand hosted an afternoon tea on 18 March 2010 for the New Zealand Red Cross to celebrate the achievement of international humanitarian aid worker, Ms Joyce Hood. Ms Hood has been awarded the Florence Nightingale medal by the International Committee of the Red Cross, the highest honour in the nursing profession.

The Florence Nightingale Medal is awarded to people who distinguish themselves, in times of peace or war, by showing exceptional courage and devotion to the wounded, sick or disabled.
