Rangihoua Heritage Park

The Governor-General, Lt Gen The Rt Hon Sir Jerry Mateparae officially opened Rangihoua Heritage Park in the Bay of Islands on 21 December 2014. The Park commemorates the first permanent settlement by Europeans in New Zealand in 1814, under the protection of Ruatara and his people in the neighbouring pa.
