Today the Ambassador of Thailand, HE Waravuth Pouapinya and the Abbot of Bodhipala Monastery, Phra Khru Buddhinyanavithet Andrew Nyanadipo presented Dame Cindy with 80 volumes of Buddhist teachings: The International Tipitaka Sajjhaya Phonetic Recitation, HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej and HM Queen Sirikit 2016 Edition.
New Zealand is one of 36 countries that have received this edition of the Tipitaka, which Dame Cindy accepted on behalf of the people of New Zealand. This edition includes a phonetic transcription of the original Pali script, and will enable recitations to be pronounced correctly, no matter what linguistic background the speaker may have.
