On Their Excellencies’ first day of their official visit to Tokelau – marking the centenary of the unique relationship between New Zealand and Tokelau – Dame Cindy and Dr Davies visited the beautiful atoll of Fakaofo.
Their Excellencies received a spectacular welcome at the Fakafoto (meeting house), followed by meetings with the Taupulega (council of elders) and Fatupaepae (women’s group). Dame Cindy and Dr Davies then had the chance to visit Fenua Fala Hospital and Tialeniu School, where they met with students and teachers who had prepared a very special performance for the occasion.
