To conclude his time in Aotearoa New Zealand, General Secretary and President of Viet Nam Tô Lâm accompanied Dame Cindy to Starkwhite Gallery in Auckland to view world-renowned photographer Fiona Pardington’s breathtaking new work.
Taharaki Skyside was presented by Fiona at the Venice Biennale 2026 and showcases photographs of New Zealand birds preserved as taxidermy specimens in museum collections. Fiona spoke to His Excellency Tô Lâm about the spiritual nature of birds in Aotearoa and our nations’ shared reverence for the environment.
Fiona’s work provided a fitting conclusion to His Excellency’s visit, as it seeks to emulate the sense of a shared horizon, allowing our two perspectives to meet across vast distance.
