Turning of the Tide International Women’s Day Cocktail Event

The Governor-General, Dame Patsy Reddy spoke at a fundraiser for Otara Blue Light's Turning of the Tide fundraiser at The Sugar Club on International Women's Day. Run with the support of the New Zealand Police,  Te Huringa o Te Tai o Nga Wahine – The Turning of the Tide for Girls is targeted at young Maori women in Otara who are first offenders or have come to police attention.Instead of donating money, guests at the fundraiser were asked to donate their time and to act as role models or mentors to the young women in the programme.
