Governor-General at the Commonwealth Games

The Governor-General, the Rt Hon Dame Patsy Reddy and Sir David Gascoigne will travel to the Gold Coast tomorrow as New Zealand’s official representatives at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

During their stay, they will attend the Games’ opening ceremony, officially open the ANZ NZ House for friends and family of athletes, visit the athletes’ village, and watch New Zealand athletes in action at a range of sporting events.

Tuesday

1600      The Governor-General speaks at the official New Zealand Team Function, QT Hotel

1700      Function with NZOC guests, QT Hotel

Wednesday

1815        Opening Ceremony, Carrara Stadium

Thursday

0930        The Governor-General speaks at the official opening of ANZ New Zealand House and morning tea for friends and family, QT Hotel

Friday

Tbc           Visit the Commonwealth Games Athletes’ Village

1900        British High Commission function, Commonwealth House

Saturday

1700        The Governor-General speaks at a cocktail function for international Commonwealth Games Federation members, diplomatic representatives, Queensland Government Representatives and Commonwealth Games senior management at a Cocktail Function, QT Hotel
