Last night Dame Cindy and Dr Davies hosted a special Pacific-themed reception to launch Volunteer Service Abroad’s new five-year strategy. Guests included Members of the Diplomatic Corps, development agencies, and VSA staff and volunteers. Dame Cindy thanked VSA volunteers for sharing expertise that empowers communities and enables them to thrive. A joyful performance by Wellington College’s Pasifika group literally shook the room, and illustrated Dame Cindy’s observation that New Zealanders are “linked across Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa through shared history, shared whakapapa, our resident Pacific Island communities, and our sense of shared destiny.”
