Dame Cindy and Dr Davies spent their third and final day in Tokelau on Atafu, as part of ongoing centenary celebrations. Their Excellencies were greeted with a joyful array of colour and song, before having the opportunity to meet with community members and leaders, and hear their aspirations and concerns for the future.
In her own address, Dame Cindy reflected on Tokelau’s achievements over these past 100 years, and the strength of the bond between our peoples, quoting the whakataukī: 'Tokelau, tāofi mau tau aganuku, ko tō pale tēnā. Tokelau, holdfast to your culture, that is your crown.'
Sincerest thanks to all those who made Their Excellencies’ time on the beautiful atolls of Tokelau so special, and all best wishes for the future.
