Last week Dame Cindy and Dr Davies visited Urupukapuka Island, where Project Island Song is paying such huge dividends for our native flora and fauna. Dame Cindy and Dr Davies met some of the good people who have helped to create a beautiful pest-free sanctuary on the seven islands in the eastern Bay of Islands. It's an inspirational example of what can be achieved when communities, iwi, local landowners and Department of Conservation staff work together, along with their willing canine helpers, to eradicate pests and enable native species to be reintroduced and thrive.
