Mr Lachie Marshall, of Christchurch, MNZM for services to water polo
Lachie Marshall played in the New Zealand Men’s water polo team from 1981 to 1993, including time as captain. He has coached various teams since the early 1990s. He is a Board Member and former Chair of Canterbury Water Polo. He played a key role in the re-establishment of water polo in Canterbury following the 2010 and 2011 earthquakes, sourcing alternative club training facilities and spearheading fundraising and sponsorship efforts, creating scholarships to encourage new talent into the sport and importing players from overseas to compete for the club. Mr Marshall has coached many athletes who have since competed at a national level.
