Mr Graeme Blick, CNZM, of Porirua, for services to geodesy
Graeme Blick is New Zealand’s Chief Geodesist. He held various positions with Geological Survey (now GNS Science), including as Photogrammetrist and Geodetic Surveyor. He is a longstanding member of the National Institute of Surveyors and Spatial and the International Association of Geodesy. He represents New Zealand at the United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management Committee of Experts. He helped establish the United Nations Global Geodetic Centre of Excellence. He is a member of the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research. He developed Land and Information New Zealand’s (LINZ) mapping and nautical charting programme in Antarctica. He developed a semi-dynamic datum for New Zealand and helped establish LINZ’s partnership in GeoNet. Mr Blick helped establish the Southern Positioning augmentation Network, improving satellite-based positioning systems in New Zealand and Australia.
