Mr Peter Swain, KSM, of Invercargill, for services to the community
Peter Swain served as Secretary of the Otago Southland branch of the Meat Workers’ Union, where he set up a food bank for workers during a 13-week strike. He has volunteered with the Southland Food Bank since 1991 and played an integral role in establishing and maintaining the Foodbank Charitable Trust as a valuable non-profit community asset. He served as Chair and remains a Trustee and active volunteer. He has organised food drives and performed numerous speaking engagements to promote the Southland Food Bank. Mr Swain was President of the Southland branch of the 60s Up movement.
