Mrs Sharon Stevens-Cottle, MNZM, of Masterton, for services to dance and theatre
Sharon Stevens-Cottle began teaching the Dupree American Jazz Syllabus in Masterton in 1981 and was a Co-Director of The American Jazz Dance Association. She was Director of the Phoenix International Workshops, involving more than 1,000 dancers from around the country and overseas choreographers. Through her studio, she has enabled thousands of students to explore physical creativity and the enjoyment of dance and musical theatre. She has helped to fund scholarships for students to perform and study overseas. She produced events to raise funds for CCS Disability Action. She was the Event Manager and Director for Masterton’s 150th anniversary celebrations. Mrs Stevens-Cottle was President of the Masterton Amateur Theatre Society.
