Mr Aaron Halstead, of Queenstown, MNZM for services to Search and Rescue and the tourism industry
Aaron Halstead has contributed to alpine Search and Rescue (SAR) for more than 30 years. He is currently Alpine Rescue Team Leader with Wakatipu LandSAR Alpine and Cliff Rescue Team. He was Rescue Manager at Aoraki Mount Cook. He has been an expert advisor for national SAR exercises. He was President of the New Zealand Mountain Guides Association. He has conducted expeditions in Antarctica, both privately and through his adventure business exploreGO. He is Chairman of the Southern Lakes Trails, overseeing a trail network linking 30 communities in Central Otago. Mr Halstead has been involved with youth development as an outdoor recreation instructor, speaker and lecturer.
