Mr Terry O’Regan, of Moana, KSM for services to nursing and the community
Terry O’Regan trained in psychiatric and general nursing, practising in Christchurch and Greymouth. He was District Nurse in Haast and Rural Nurse for Moana and surrounding districts. Recognising the need for rural nurses to have time away, he became the relief Rural Health Nurse for the entire West Coast for more than 20 years. His skill in palliative care and support has allowed rural people to stay in their homes when unwell. He is involved with the Moana market day and the St John’s church restoration group. Mr O’Regan was a Grey District Councillor for the Eastern Ward.
