Mr Kereama Nathan, of Silverdale, KSM for services to Māori
Mr Kereama Nathan (Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Ngāti Whātua o Kaipara, Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Maniapoto) is a kaumatua serving the Hibiscus Coast. He has promoted te ao Māori to the community, strengthening its spiritual and cultural fabric and empowering new leaders. He is Chairman and kaiwhakahaere of Te Hengera Waka o Orewa Marae, where he has helped establish te reo Māori classes; courses in horticulture, weaving, and carpentry; and a rongoa Māori clinic. He has been involved in Women’s Refuge, Community Corrections, counselling and cultural events. Mr Nathan organises Matariki celebrations at Orewa Beach and is Chair of Te Ataarangi ki Tamaki.
