Ms Arihia Stirling, of Auckland, MNZM for services to education and Māori
Ms Arihia Stirling (Te Whānau-ā-Apanui, Ngāti Porou, Kāi Tahu, Ngāti Whātua) was awarded a Queen’s Service Medal in 2016. She continued as Principal of Te Kura Māori o Ngā Tapuwae and Chairperson of Ngā Kura-ā-Iwi o Aotearoa. She was Board Chair of Te Kura o Te Whānau ā Apanui. She is a member and New Zealand Representative for the Global Education Leaders Partnership. She chairs the National Secondary Schools Kapa Haka Committee and the New Zealand Council of Education Research. She was part of the Secretary of Education’s Peak Body Advisory. Ms Stirling is a member of the Police Commissioner’s Māori Focus Forum and Patron of Police Recruit Wing 355.
