Mrs Viv Napier, of Greytown, MNZM for services to local government and the community
Mrs Viv Napier was Vice President and President of the Wairarapa Plunket Society and served on the national Plunket Board. She served 24 years on the South Wairarapa District Council, including four terms as Deputy Mayor and one term as Mayor. She was an active member of the Wairarapa District Health Board, sitting on several subcommittees.
As Chair of the Waiohine River Floodplain Advisory Committee, she spearheaded a ground-breaking flood management strategy. While Chair of the Wairarapa Dark Sky Reserve, Mrs Napier was instrumental in Wairarapa’s certification as one of only 21 International Dark Sky Reserves worldwide, establishing Wairarapa as a top-tier destination for astro-tourism with associated economic benefits.
