Dr Fiona Pardington, of Waimate, ONZM for services to photography
Dr Fiona Pardington (Kāi Tahu, Kāti Māmoe, Waitaha, Ngāti Kahungunu) was appointed a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2017 for her services to photography. Since then, she has represented New Zealand at the London Art Fair and Art Basel Hong Kong, and participated in the international exhibition ‘Oceania’ at London’s Royal Academy of the Arts. She was the first New Zealander invited to participate in the Sharjah Biennial 16 in the United Arab Emirates. She collaborated with the Wellcome Collection Science Museum in London, resulting in an exhibition at Christchurch Art Gallery, ‘Orphans of Māoriland’. Dr Pardington has donated photographs to galleries in Timaru and Christchurch, as well as for a charity auction to support Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari wildlife reserve.
