Mr Selwyn June and Mrs Dianne June, of Hamilton, KSM for services to wildlife conservation
Mr Selwyn June and Mrs Dianne June established the Waikato Hauraki Conservation Fund and have served with the Pirongia Te Aroaro o Kahu Restoration Society. They have contributed to species protection, most notably in the Pureora Forest, which is vital to the reintroduction of KĹŤkako. Their rat-baiting events, involving up to 70 volunteers, have contributed to the growth of the KĹŤkako population, from 22 pairs in 2012 to over 90 pairs. Mr and Mrs June have expanded their predator control to Pikiariki forest area, to protect native bats and other endangered species.
