Mrs Lyn Tankersley, of Masterton, KSM for services to community welfare
Mrs Lyn Tankersley has worked to improve the lives of vulnerable people in the Wairarapa. She coordinated the Masterton Foodbank and led the creation of Shelter Masterton, a day shelter offering hot meals, showers, couches and a laundry facility. She worked to ensure the needs of the homeless were being met during the COVID-19 pandemic. She is coordinator of Project Manaaki, a transitional housing development for the homeless, which also helps find pathways towards permanent housing and employment. Mrs Tankersley was closely involved in establishing Kim’s Way, a night shelter for up to 13 men and women.
