Mr Warwick Wilshier, of Whakatāne, MNZM for services to the road freight industry
Mr Warwick Wilshier has substantially increased the safety standards of log transport nationally through his governance and advocacy. He became one of New Zealand’s largest log-truck fleet owners, with over 150 vehicles. He was a founding member and Chair of the New Zealand Log Transport Safety Council, and advocated for the increase of log truck trailer lengths to 22 metres and for lower loads, which significantly increased the safety of the vehicles. He led the development of new vehicle designs and driver education. By 2025, log-truck rollovers had reduced from 2.4 per million kilometres to 0.3. Mr Wilshier was Chair of the Road Transport Forum, and Chair of Ia Ara Aotearoa Transporting New Zealand.
