Mr Rodney Wong, of Palmerston North, ONZM for services to business and the community
Mr Rodney Wong is a prominent businessman who has helped establish significant community facilities, including the Wildbase Recovery Centre, a nationally significant native wildlife hospital and rehabilitation facility. He is Trustee to the Eastern and Central Community Trust Board and a Trustee of the Palmerston North Hospital Foundation, where he helped develop a children’s emergency room. He also was Chair of Manchester House, the charitable social service agency. He was CEO of International Fine Foods, and CEO, owner and Managing Director of Yoplait New Zealand. He was Deputy Chair of Plant and Food Research, was a director on the National Science Challenge’s Centre for High Value Nutrition, and is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Food Science. He Chairs the Chinese Poll Tax Heritage Trust, promoting the history and contributions of Chinese New Zealanders.
