Lemalu Freddie Ah Kuoi, of Kaikohe, MNZM for services to rugby league and the community
Lemalu Freddie Ah Kuoi played 28 tests for the New Zealand Rugby League Team, and captained the New Zealand Kiwis for six tests in the 1980s, leading the team to a historic 3-0 win against the touring Lions team. He coached the Richmond Premier Team for 10 years and was a founding director of the Richmond Rovers Rugby League Academy, a free development programme which helps young rugby league players to excel in all areas of life. Mr Ah Kuoi established the ‘WAI-Who Am I’ course, delivered through the Department of Corrections, to help mentor and develop young offenders in the community through physical training and life coaching.
