Dr Luk Chin, of Cambridge, MNZM for services to health and harness racing
Dr Luk Chin was an anaesthetist at Waikato Hospital, where he helped establish Waikato Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit and Pain Service. He co-led the development of the Anglesea Medical Centre in Hamilton, Waikato’s first same-day surgical unit. He has since helped establish private healthcare facilities in Tauranga and Cambridge, as well as the Franklin Day Hospital in Pukekohe. He created a fund to provide financial assistance for future registrars wanting to advance their studies of anaesthetics. Dr Chin is New Zealand’s oldest licensed harness racing trainer and driver. He has trained horses to win more than 200 races, and has been a winning driver over 100 times
