Ms Shirley Mackay, of Auckland, MNZM for services to swimming
Ms Shirley Mackay served on the Executive Committee of Swimming Auckland, as Deputy Chair and Chairperson. She led major governance projects that modernised Swimming Auckland, and achieved a merger with Swimming Northland. As Chairperson of Waitakere Swimming Club, she led a revitalisation of the club’s programme for swimmers of all levels, which strengthened the community of competitive swimmers in the area. Ms Mackay is a member of the Regional Chairs Group and Governance Working Group of Swimming New Zealand, and organises swimming meets for the Central and West Auckland zones, which involve 13 clubs and provide opportunities for the development of young swimmers.
