Mr Doug Alderslade, of Auckland, ONZM for services to the racing industry
Mr Doug Alderslade has made an enduring contribution to the racing industry. He became Board Chair of the Auckland Racing Club in 2017, and has led the Club in delivering transformative industry outcomes and substantial upgrades to racing infrastructure, including the construction of the state-of-the-art StrathAyr track at Ellerslie, which has ensured the sustainability of Auckland racing and long-term industry growth. As a committed racehorse owner and breeder, he has actively fostered international partnerships for the benefit of the Auckland industry, including long-standing connections with the Victoria Racing Club, the Japan Racing Association and the Hong Kong Jockey Club. In addition to his service to racing, Mr Alderslade has had a distinguished legal career as a partner at Chapman Tripp for 35 years, specialising in commercial dispute resolution and employment law.
