Mr Bruce McLachlan, of Ruakākā, MNZM for services to education
Mr Bruce McLachlan was Principal of two Auckland schools. He gained international attention for his concept of Free Play, which teaches children about risks and personal limits and increases productivity and problem-solving ability, whilst lowering incidents of conflict and bullying. He is Chairperson of Auckland Kindergarten Association, and has personally visited all 112 kindergartens and centres of the Association. He serves on the Complaints Assessment Committee of the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand and the National Standards Committee of the Law Society. Mr McLachlan is a Convenor of the Professional Conduct Committee of the Medical Council, the Professional Conduct Committee of the Medical Sciences Council, and the Medical Radiation Technologists Board.
