Dr Shanthi Selvakumar, of Auckland, KSM for services to migrant and refugee communities
Dr Shanthi Selvakumar is a dedicated physician and strong advocate for migrant women and children affected by domestic violence. She provides free medical care to victims of abuse and those facing severe financial hardship, and contributed to a publication for the ‘It’s Not OK’ campaign. She leads medical missions across New Zealand and the Pacific Islands, running free clinics and providing essential medication. She chairs Shakti ethnic women's refuge, and helps migrants settle in New Zealand. Dr Selvakumar is also a musician and orchestral conductor, and was a founding member of the New Zealand Carnatic Music Society.
