Robert Stanic
Robert Stanic, of Auckland, received the Insignia of an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit, for services to the community. Mr Stanic has given more than 67 years’ of community service to the West Auckland area. He has served the Order of Saint John since 1944 as part of the Volunteer Ambulance Brigade and is now a member of the West Auckland Area Committee. He was Waitemata City councillor, from 1974 to 1986, including six years as Deputy Mayor, before serving as a Waitakere City councillor from 1995 to 2001, including three years as Deputy Mayor. He was the founding President of the Te Atatu Residents’ and Ratepayers’ Association and was an elected member of the Waitakere Licensing Trust for 34 years, including time as Vice-President and President. He has been a trustee of the Henderson Heritage Trust and the Falls Hotel Preservation Trust since 1998. Mr Stanic has been involved with the Te Atatu Lions Club for 45 years and twice served as District Governor for New Zealand and the Pacific.
