Garry Evans, QSO, Wellington.
For services to the State. Mr Garry Evans was appointed as Wellington District Coroner in 1997 and served until 2007, when Coronial Services were restructured. He was appointed as a Relief Coroner, serving until 2009, when he was appointed to his current role as Regional Coroner for Wellington. He has a special interest in coronial jurisprudence and the medical aspects of coronial inquiries, sudden unexpected infant deaths and inquests involving mental health issues. He was a barrister and solicitor in private practice from 1965 to 2007. He served as a member of the Medical Misadventure Advisory Committee for 10 years and continues as an independent advisor to ACC in treatment injury claims. Mr Evans has held office as the Maritime Appeal Authority since 1985.
