Rodney Grout
Rodney Grout, of Christchurch, received the Insignia of an Officer of The New Zealand Order of Merit for services to transport, in particular the maritime industry. Mr Grout has been the Chief Executive officer of Pacifica Shipping for more than 20 years. He served as a member of the Marine Council, the New Zealand Shipping Taskforce Reform Group, the New Zealand Maritime Development Group, and the negotiating team that developed the first enterprise agreement in the fishing industry. He was a member of the Government Shipping Industry Review and of the Maritime Safety Authority Working Group on salvage, command and control. He has served as Vice-President and President of the New Zealand Shipping Federation. He was instrumental in the development of the ‘Roadways to Waterways’ report. Mr Grout has been involved with the wider transport industry sector, is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, a director of Skeggs Group, Chairman of United Container Services, and a former chairman of Lyttelton Stevedoring.
