Dr Paul Livingstone, Wellington, QSO
For services to veterinary science. Dr Livingstone has dedicated his 37-year veterinary career to public service and to the benefit of New Zealand farmers, and the livestock industry. As the Tuberculosis Eradication and Research Manager for the Animal Health Board, he has made a notable contribution to eradicating tuberculosis in New Zealand and internationally. His scientific and managerial leadership in the control and eradication of bovine TB in cattle and deer has helped to avert significant threats to New Zealand’s meat and dairy industry. His contribution to New Zealand's agricultural earnings has been immense, according to many in the industry. He was instrumental in developing the Animal Health Board National Pest Management Strategy for bovine tuberculosis, under the Biosecurity Act 1993. Dr Livingstone's expertise has earned him international recognition and he has presented, and been a keynote speaker at a range of international fora, including the World Organisation for Animal Health.
