Professor Susan St John, of Auckland
Professor Susan St John received the Insignia of a Companion of the Queen's Service Order for services to social policy. Professor St John has been researching public policy issues in family tax, social security, and superannuation in New Zealand and internationally for more than 30 years. She has focused on retirement policy issues and is involved in a range of projects, including on family welfare in New Zealand and the economic implication of the Accident Compensation Corporation scheme. She has been a consultant to the Royal Commission on Social Policy, was the Deputy Chairperson of the Periodic Report Group on retirement incomes, and also contributed to the report on pensions to the Institute of Fiscal Studies London Comparative Pensions Project in 1998. Professor St John is the co-director of the Retirement Policy and Research Centre, a member of the editorial board of Pension Reforms, a member of the advisory board for the 2007 Retirement Commission’s Review of Retirement Policies in New Zealand, and an executive member of the Child Poverty Action Group.
