Alan Broadbent
Alan Broadbent, of Santa Monica, California, received the Insignia of a Member of the NZ Order of Merit at an investiture ceremony on 26 September 2008. He has been an internationally recognised jazz musician, arranger, and composer for over 35 years and has been described by Jazz Times as “one of the major keyboard figures of the day”. Now based in the United States, he has performed with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, the Auckland Sinfonia and with his own trio in New Zealand. He received two Grammy Awards for his arrangement of When I Fall In Love by Natalie Cole and for arrangements for Charlie Haden’s Quartet West, of which he has also been a member.
