Maurice Facoory
Maurice Facoory, of St Johns, received the Insignia of a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to sport, in particular speedway. He was active in the Western Springs Speedway and is the Manager of the track and Patron. He is a life member of the Speedway Supporters Club and served on the Speedway Control Board. He coached speedway drivers and advocated for the sport nationally and internationally. He has also been involved in boxing and was the manager of the New Zealand Boxing team from 1997 to 2002, including to the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur in 1998, and Manchester in 2002. He coached rugby league and was a member of various local clubs in Auckland. Mr Facoory was a delegate to the Auckland Rugby Football Union.
