Jacqueline Allan
Dr Jacqueline Allan, of Remuera, received the Insignia of a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to Māori health. Dr Allan has been a general practitioner specialising in Māori health for 20 years. She has served on a number of professional and advisory bodies. She was the co-founder of Tipu Ora, a Māori mother and child health organisation, and was also a founding member of Te ora, the Māori Medical Practitioners Association. She chaired the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Genetic Modification. Dr Allan mentors and teaches young Māori doctors on the East Coast of New Zealand and is a member of the Māori Faculty of the Royal College of New Zealand General Practitioners.
