Donald Ferguson, of Otorohanga
Donald Ferguson received the Insignia of a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to cattle-breeding and the dairy industry. Mr Ferguson is an internationally known cattle breeder and has made a major contribution to the dairy industry since the 1950s. Cattle from his Ferdon Stud have been exported to farms and studs in many countries, including the Windsor Herd belonging to Her Majesty The Queen. The Queen visited the Stud in 1990 and Mr Ferguson was subsequently requested to prepare the Windsor Herd at the World Jersey Cattle Bureau Conference in 1991. He is an official judge and classifier for Jersey New Zealand and has judged at agricultural shows in Australia, Britain, Kenya, South Africa and the Channel Islands. Mr Ferguson is a life member of Jersey New Zealand and the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association.
