For services to Te Omanga Hospice. Mrs Cooper was instrumental to the founding of Te Omanga Hospice for the care of the terminally ill in 1979, and led the hospice until her retirement in 1997. A recipient of the Queen’s Service Medal in 1986, she remains actively involved with the hospice, as a Trustee of both its Trust and Foundation. Mrs Cooper’s work in palliative care has been influential in New Zealand and overseas.
