Ian Templeton
Ian Templeton, of Wellington, recevied the Insignia of a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to journalism. Mr Templeton has been a journalist for more than 50 years. His time in the Parliamentary Press Gallery has extended across 14 Prime Ministers and 17 elections. In 1968, he co-founded the weekly political newsletter, Trans Tasman, and is the current senior editor. He wrote political columns for the The Guardian, the South China Morning Post, The Economist, the Australian Financial Review and the Sunday Star Times. He co-authored Election ’69: an Independent Survey of the New Zealand Political Scene and In the Balance: Election ’72. He was awarded the Cowan Memorial Prize and the Qantas Lifetime Achievement Award. Mr Templeton is a life member of the New Zealand Parliamentary Press Gallery.
