Foufou Hukui, of Papatoetoe
Foufou Hukui received the Queen's Service Medal for services to the Pacific Islands community. Mrs Hukui has been a well known broadcaster in the Niuean and Pacific communities for 35 years. She is known to many as the first presenter and producer of Tagata Pasifika. She has led many radio programmes in the Niuean language, on Niu FM, Radio 531pi, and Radio Sunshine in Niue. She was a Language Programme Producer for the Niue language programme and part of the language team for six years at Pacific Media Network. She is a supporter of Vagahau Niue, a pilot resource launched in October 2005 to teach the basics of the Niuean language to Niueans who do not speak their native tongue. Mrs Hukui currently provides a weekday news bulletin to Niue through Radio New Zealand International.
